I didn’t think it was possible.
But God had bigger plans.
As I sit on my back patio with my morning coffee, looking out at our yard, the barn, and all of our animals, I can’t help but think back to the woman who believed this life would never happen.
I didn’t think I could stop drinking alcohol.
I didn’t think we’d ever be able to move out of our neighborhood.
I didn’t think I’d get to live a slower life in the country, surrounded by nature.
I didn’t think we’d have ducks, a bunny, a dog, and a cat.
I didn’t think we’d ever have a barn where we could park our camper—the very thing my husband and I used to dream about.
I didn’t think I’d have the courage to start a business and keep showing up even when growth came slowly.
I didn’t always know if my husband and I wanted the same future.
But God did.
He always had bigger plans.
He gently showed me the way. He gave me courage when I couldn’t see the next step. He kept pulling at my heart, reminding me of what my soul had been longing for all along.
A slower life.
A more intentional life.
A life rooted in faith, family, creativity, and the simple joys that are so easy to overlook.
I’m so thankful I listened.
Thankful I stopped drinking.
Thankful I slowed down.
Thankful I chose to be more intentional.
Because I’ve learned that the ordinary moments aren’t ordinary at all.
They’re everything.
Morning coffee on the back patio.
Watching our bunny follow me around the house.
Pushing my son on the swing.
Late-night porch conversations with my husband.
Watching our ducks splash around in their pond.
Family dinners outside.
Painting the beauty God has placed around us.
Seeing my husband happily building enclosures for all of our animals. 😂
Camping together as a family.
Laying in the grass with my daughter and the bunny.
Watching my 9-year-old son proudly ride the lawn mower and help his dad with projects.
Collecting rainwater to water our berry bushes and trees.
Learning more about God through His Word and through the beauty of His creation.
Playing pickleball together in the barn.
These moments may look simple from the outside, but to me, they’re the answer to prayers I once thought would never be answered.
God didn’t just change my circumstances.
God filled my heart with contentment instead of constantly chasing more.
God filled my heart with the kind of life I didn’t even know I was searching for.
